In order to optimize my resume using AI, I included the prompt, “Make my resume more professional and apply it to a job in the hospitality industry.” This resulted in an additional section called “Objective” to be included which explains my current position in life and a summary of what I will bring to the job. Additionally, the “Relevant Experience” section was expanded, going more in depth on the tasks done and the type of experience gained from said tasks. The skills also honed in on the hospitality aspect of the resume, including expertise specified to a job in the hospitality industry. Overall, the AI made the resume longer, more specific, and detailed. This has shown me how prompt engineering provides a bridge between AI and human intent, allowing ideas to be expanded on and maximized to their full potential. While the original resume was sufficient, the use of prompt engineering tailored the resume to a specific job and increased the respect of it’s subject matter.
